Friends (IB)

My work is a reflection on memories that I have made with my closest friends. They aren’t too complicated just simple.
My work is driven by the concern of me forgetting my high school days and friends. I am terrified of graduating. This process isn’t an easy process. Moving on is like, leaving behind something you can’t replace. It hurts so much.
My media is carbon paper, paper, watercolor, glue, colored pencils, and love. I would have drawn the pictures, but I didn’t want them to be extremely realistic. The carbon paper lets my pieces be unrealistic, and lets the viewers decide for themselves what is going on.
My process isn’t too difficult. I trace the image using a pencil on top of the carbon paper so that the image will transfer on to the paper that I than colored, cut out, paste, and than paint the surrounding with the watercolor for the background.
My influences come from a couple of artist, mostly Nikki S Lee. She is a photographer that takes snapshots of herself immersed in another culture to catch the perfect picture.
The intimate sizes of the pieces are for the viewer to know how dear these are to me. The smaller pieces are so dear to. I made them small so that I can place them away somewhere and take them with me to remember the great times.
